Iridite is a trade name of the MacDermid Corporation for their brand of chemical conversion coating material. Iridite 14 was one of the early alternatives to Alodine 1200. Iridite has become synonymous with chemical conversion coating.
The Iridite process can be used to produce coatings that are clear to dark brown in appearance. The darker the coating the higher the electrical resistance is across the coating. Light coatings are used when maximum electrical resistance is required.
